Apply Online for,OTET 2014,Odisha Teachers Eligibility Test

Applications are invited strictly ONLINE by logging on to Board of Secondary Education web site www.bseodisha.nic.in from the intending eligible candidates, to appear at the OTET 2014 as per the terms and conditions given below:

ELIGIBILITY

1. Candidates having the following minimum qualifications shall be eligible for appearing at OTET 2014.

FOR CATEGORY –A (PAPER-I) i.e. -

Higher Secondary (+2 or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2 years 

Diploma in Elementary Education / 2 years Diploma in Education (Special Education) 

approved by RCI (Rehabilitation Council of India)/ Graduation with 2 years Diploma in 

Elementary Education / 2 years Diploma in Special Education approved by RCI. 

FOR CATEGORY –B (PAPER-II) 

Graduation with at least 50% marks with 1 year Bachelor’s Degree in Education (B.Ed.)/ 1 

year B.Ed. (Special Education) approved by RCI/Higher Secondary (+2 or equivalent) with 

at least 50% marks and 4 years B.A. Ed./ B.Sc. Ed. (integrated course). 

Provided that relaxation of 5% in qualifying marks in +2 or at the graduation level, as the 

case may be; shall be allowed to the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/ SEBC category. 

Provided further that candidates who have secured minimum marks in +2 or graduation 

level, as the case may be; as prescribed at the time of admission into Teacher Education 

Course; shall also be eligible to appear at OTET 2014. 

(II) Candidates who are pursuing (Final Year) of any of the teacher education courses 

(recognized by NCTE or by the RCI as the case may be) specified above, in both the 

categories; can also appear at OTET 2014. 

(III) UNTRAINED CANDIDATES : 

Untrained candidates, ONLY belonging to SC, ST & PH category having required 

percentage of marks (5% relaxation in minimum qualifying marks in +2 or Graduation 

Level as the case may be, for the candidates belonging to SC, ST categories) shall 

be eligible. THIS IS INTENDED TO FACILITATE BETTER OPPORTUNITY TO SC, 2

ST & PH CANDIDATES AND THIS DOES NOT GIVE THEM ANY ENTITLEMENT / 

RIGHT FOR ENGAGEMENT. 

(IV) Candidates eligible to apply under category –‘B’ of the State’s guide line (Resolution 

No.14302/SME/Dt.04.06.2012), shall not be eligible to apply under category-A. 

SYLLABUS STRUCTURE AND QUALIFYING CRITERIA : 

1. The duration of the test in each paper shall be two hours & thirty minutes. 

2. All questions shall be of multiple choice category carrying one mark with four 

alternatives; out of which the candidates are required to find out one correct answer. 

3. The candidates shall record the answers on OMR Sheet by darkening the circles 

completely with Blue/ Black ball point pen only. Darkening of more than one circle for a 

single question, would lead to rejection of that answer by the computerized evaluation

system. 

4. The question papers in non-language subjects shall be in Odia & English. 

5. The candidates have to choose any one of the following language for language-I, in both 

paper; i.e. Odia, Hindi, Telugu, Urdu and Bengali. 

6. Language-II shall be English for all candidates in both the papers. 

7. Candidates applying for Paper-II shall have to choose either Mathematics & Science or 

Social Studies; as one of the Optional Subject. 

8. There shall be no negative marks. 

9. The minimum pass mark in each paper is 60%. A person securing 60% or more in a 

paper shall be considered OTET Pass. In case of SC, ST, PH, OBC/ SEBC candidate, 

the minimum pass mark shall be 50%. 

10.There shall be no restriction on the number of attempts a person can make for acquiring 

OTET qualifying certificate. A person who has qualified in OTET may also appear again 

for improving his / her score. 

11.The validity period of OTET qualifying certificate / mark sheet, shall be a period of 

07(seven) years from the date of OTET Exam.

12.Successful candidates shall be awarded with an OTET Certificate by Board of 

Secondary Education, Odisha. Eligibility mentioned at para (i) to (iv)/ above, shall be 

verified by the recruiting agency/ appropriate authorities at the time of recruitment. 

13.The result shall be processed on the basis of the information furnished by the 

candidates in the online application. No complaints/ revision shall be entertained after 

online submission of application or after publication of result. 

QUALIFYING THE OTET WOULD NOT CONFER ANY RIGHT FOR RECRUITMENT/ 

EMPLOYMENT AS IT IS ONLY ONE ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR APPOINTMENT. 3

IMPORTANT

QUESTIONS WILL BE SET TO ASSESS THE CANDIDATE’S ABILITY TO ANALYZE, 

INTERPRET AND APPLY HIS / HER KNOWELDGE ON THE SUBJECT. 

Please note that as per NCTE guide line, the questions in the paper-I will be based on 

the topics of the Prescribed syllabus of the state for class I to V but their difficultly 

standard as well as linkages could be up to the secondary stage. 

The questions in the paper-II will be based on the topics of the prescribed syllabus of 

the state for Class VI to VIII but their difficulty standard as well as linkages could be up to 

senior secondary/ higher secondary /+2 stage. 

The guide lines prescribed by the competent authority do not indicate any specific Text 

or author for OTET Examination. 

The OTET-2012 syllabus as developed by the TE & SCERT, Odisha as per the guidelines 

of the NCTE, shall be applicable for the OTET-2014. The detail syllabus of OTET is available in 

www.bseodisha.nic.in at the link “OTET Syllabus” & www.scertorissa.org.

Questions of OTET-2014 along with scoring keys shall be uploaded soon after the 

examination is over in the Board of Secondary Education, Odisha website www.bseodisha.nic.in,

inviting objections in respect of questions or answers, if any. Objection shall be submitted to the 

Board within 7 days from the date of publication of Questions & Scoring keys in the website. No 

objection shall be entertained after the due date. 

How to apply & pay Fees for the examination.

HOW TO APPLY :

Application should be submitted strictly ONLINE by logging on to Board of Secondary Education , 

Odisha, Cuttack website http://http://bseodisha.nic.in/ and click on “OTET 2014” and subsequently 

enter relevant paper (Paper-I or Paper-II). Application will not be accepted through any other 

mode. The website will be kept open from 20.09.2014 and close on 10.10.2014 at 23.59 hrs for 

submission of online application form. Candidates are allowed to apply only once and applications 

once submitted cannot be altered under any circumstances. Candidates are required to possess a 

valid e-mail ID and mobile number, which is to be entered in the Application form, so that 

intimation regarding downloading of Hall Ticket for Written Test can be sent. Board of Secondary 

Education, Odisha will not be responsible for bouncing / loss of any e-mail sent to the candidates, 

due to invalid/ wrong email ID provided by the candidate or for delivery of e-mail to spam/ bulk 

mail folder or for delay/ non receipt of information; if the candidate fails to access his/her mail/ 

website in time. However, necessary information will be hoisted on Board of Secondary Education, 

Odisha website from time to time. Candidates are required to pay the application fee of Rs. 350/-

(Rupees Three Hundred Fifty) only through SBI Challan generated from the web site. On 5

submission of forms and fees candidate will get e-mail and SMS regarding his / her registration 

number and password. The system will generate challan and the candidates have to print the 

Challan Copy. Candidates by using Application number and Password MUST print the 

Application form for future reference. 

MANDATORY DOCUMENTS : 

Candidates have to upload the following documents/ certificates while filling up the online 

application form :-

a. Scanned copy of Class-X/ H.S. Certificate/ Matriculation Marks List as applicable. 

b. Scanned copy of certificates of qualifying examination. 

c. Scanned copy of Caste Certificate (Applicable for SC/ST/OBC/SEBC) 

d. Scanned copy of Disability Certificate, if applicable. 

e. Scanned copy of Certificate of +2 / +3 Examination for Untrained Candidates (SC/ST/PH)

f. Scanned copy of “Continuing Certificate” for candidates continuing final year of Teacher 

Education Courses. 

Online Registration would open on 20.09.2014 and closes on 10.10.2014 at 23:59 hrs. 

Step- 1 : Log on to http://http://bseodisha.nic.in

Step-2 : Click on “OTET” and subsequently enter the relevant paper applied for. 

Step-3 :Read the Advertisement carefully and be ready with the scan copies of the documents 

mentioned above and then click on “Register Online” & fill up the Online Application Form with 

your details. 

Step-4 : Click SUBMIT, take a print of the Challan copy after it is displayed.

Step-5 : Before clicking submit, verify all the entries and if you are satisfied about the 

correctness of all the entries, Click OK. 

Step-6 : Please save the filled in application on to your local system for future printing/ 

reference using Application number and password and also keep a print of the Application 

Form. 

NOTE : CANDIDATES MUST NOTE DOWN THEIR REGISTRATION NO. AND KEEP A 

COPY OF FILLED IN APPLICATION AND ALL OTHER DOCUMENTS FOR FUTURE 

REFERENCE.

The Examination has been proposed to be held on 1st Sunday of December, 2014.
