Enhancing Employability of Youth through Vocational Courses

The Government of India has revised and implemented a centrally sponsored scheme of “Vocationalisation of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education” to enhance the employability of youth through demand driven, competency based vocational courses; to fill the gap between educated and employable; and to reduce the dropout rate at the secondary level. Under the Scheme, vocational courses are aligned to requirements of Industry on the basis of skill gap analysis and have been introduced in secondary and senior secondary schools. Currently, industry validated courses in Retail, Security, Automobile, IT&ITeS, Beauty & Wellness, Tourism, Healthcare, Physical Education & Sports sectors are being implemented under the scheme in schools.
